Great technical and artistic skills mean nothing if they cannot be brought together to produce a world-class quality finished product on time and within budget. Project management is another key skill that Glass Egg has developed after creating 17 interactive titles as well as dozens of other game projects. While overall project supervision is handled by our Senior Producer and Executive Producer, most of the day-to-day responsibility for delivering a finished product and sticking to the schedule is handled by the Vietnamese Producers. This is a difficult management skill to acquire, since it involves careful up-front planning, making countless daily decisions, managing the needs and expectations of clients, and ensuring the staff has the information and tools they need to work properly.
The only effective way to learn to be a Producer is to train on the job, dealing with real problems in real time. The 4 current Glass Egg Producers each have completed numerous projects and have proven that they can handle the tremendous demands of this job. Together, they have more than 30 years of game producing experience.
The production of high quality game art is one of the most difficult skills to develop and Glass Egg considers its artists to be at or near the same level as computer artists anywhere in the world. In order to ensure the highest skill levels, Glass Egg has an extensive and aggressive in-house training program, which allows us to build capacity in advance of need. All of Glass Egg's 3D artists begin their careers as traditional artists, whether it is as sculptors, painters or traditional cell animators. Only after the artist has demonstrated a proficiency in composition, drawing, color, etc. are they trained in a new medium - computer graphics, beginning with basic computer and file management. In other words, except in rare cases, Glass Egg does not try to take computer experts and teach them to be artists.
All of our artists are well versed in the art of making 3D assets and environments for PC and console games. We have created a tremendous amount of 3D art for games using a variety of 3D engines. Our main development tools are 3D Studio Max, Maya, Photoshop and Zbrush.
Nearly all of Glass Egg's programmers have been working together in Vietnam since 1996 when they first began to produce the computer code for 2D titles in Vietnam. As a result it is not an exaggeration to say that the programmers are one of the most experienced production teams in the industry worldwide. They are intimately familiar with all aspects of game programming, from the overall architecture and problem solving to the testing and QA needed to ensure world-class quality.
In addition all of the programmers graduated near the top of their class at the most prestigious polytechnic universities in Vietnam. Their high level of general technical skills and knowledge has allowed them to actively seek programming challenges and quickly learn new programming languages. To date the team is well versed in C++, Visual Basic, SQL, Flash, HTML, Director, Java, and Perl.
